Clayton Homes, Inc. was incorporated in 1966. At the present time, the company’s corporate office is based in Maryville, Tennessee. The company builds, sells, finances, leases, and insures manufactured and modular homes as well as re-locatable commercial and educational buildings. It is one of the leaders in the industry across the United States. Clayton Homes owns and operates 41 manufacturing plants, as well as 68 manufactured housing communities and 12 subdivisions. In 2003, Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. completed the acquisition of Clayton Homes.
