Verified ReviewerHorrible company to work for.
ZERO Stars. My husband was an employee at the Albuquerque NM office and when he tried to give his 2 weeks notice, they denied it and told him to leave.
They also assured him that he had 3 days leave for a family funeral and then denied 1 of those days and gave him a write up for another 1 of those days that he used. They basically told him that he had to choose between the job or family if he was to take that day off. Very insensitive and just not right. They also only work 32 hours a week and consider that full time.
I hope the BBB looks into this location because they treat their employees horrible and the work conditions are also horrible. Dirty warehouse, dirty restrooms, and dirty management.

Verified ReviewerBad workmenship and no supervision by project manager
This is a new home delivered in August os 2023.The project from day one was crap Pier where installed in sand fill 12 deeper whould hit good ground ( informed project manager)he did nothing said it had a Engineer stamp!Meet with engineer made changes to foundation footers but noted to check piers after pouring footer! Now 2 piers are sinking!
Roof had 6 gap in peek did not fill with plywood just shingled over, peek saged at peek in 2 days, this time manager and Clayton Homes Manufacturing supervisor came out, said roof ok but would put flashing along peek to hold shingles up!The reason peek didnt match up is because the back wall is 3/4 out plum in 6 then tried telling me it must of happened in transit.(BullS)! Siding is not level. Corners are flat and twisted or busted or cracked (repair duck tape and superglue) starter strip not nailed,
No gfis in laundry room, 20amp braker on 14/3 wire( to big) too many grounds under one grounding block. I dont even want to start on the doors or trim on this dump!
The bad thing about this is this piece of crap is payed for before it is delivered to your property( instead of a loan approval)to order home it a sales closing! You bought site unseen and now it these so-called subcontractors that couldnt repair anything( duck tape and glue) right! Contact is worded that nobody will take blame it all the on me( im old school I take a mans word is good never again) this is going to probably in up in court!
Have home inspector report and have state mobile home department inspector investigation started too! Not going to back off this.
Home is new but wouldnt let my dog live in this fire trap.Stay Away from any company that is in with Clayton Homes or Vanderbilt its like 6 or 7 companies
Hope will help others

Verified ReviewerWater cut off valve busted not even 2 yrs after purchase
Not even 2 yrs after being in our new Clayton home our water shut off valve they installed busted and we had 2 inches of water in every room. (Pictures or water attached) gladly we had protection and had our own shut off valve installed when home was delivered or who knows how much more damage would have taken place.
Luckily we have insurance but for their warranty to only last 1 year without purchasing the extended warranty they won't do anything about we we have to go through the insurance. Now we are in limbo with insurance and don't know what they will cover yet, we need all floors replaced because now they are warping, and at least a foot of wall on all our walls replaced. I am beyond peeved of how shotty this place is. Not only that but wall sockets are crooked the linoleum floors looks dirty within minutes after I clean it and the draws get off track so often because the hardware is subpar.
I'm sure there are a lot more wrong but that's all I can think of so far. We worked hard to afford this after losing everything including 3 of our 4 dogs in our house fire which is why we purchased this home.
- No pros
- Time frame to get home
- Customer service sucks
- Faulty water cutoff valve
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Do not buy from clayton

NO ACCOUNTABILITY
The GM has taken no accountability for this mess. They basically stole money from a 70 year old Marine Veteran's retirement home. Because now we have to fix it.
Clayton charged us $40,000 in construction cost, at first the quote for construction was 28,000 then they were short so we went back to the finance company and got the the rest. The contractor they hired still under bid this job so he cut corners and we are left with a mess of a yard, the manager Sonny Bomar refuses to do anything about it.
They have made my retirement home a nightmare, They should have bid to remove enough trees so sun got in to dry up where the septic sprays, we were supposed to have 2 sprayers at each corner of the property, we now have 3 and one is about 30 feet from my HOUSE. We have had to bring dirt in to try and fix this mess, we are cutting trees down to let sun in. I would like them to finish this job. We were supposed to get a metal culvert, they decided to give us plastic.
The Contractor decided to move our house back 15 feet without consulting us. As far as the house, walls are leaning ( addressed by clayton and fixed ) kitchen cabinet doors keep falling off, Our clothes closet total fell off the wall. All I have ever wanted is for Sonny to say yes we will come fix it so the septic drys by cutting small trees, yes we will reimberse you for the work you already completed plus we will come finish the messed up back yard. But we all know they wont.
Because thats what they do. They left my home a muddy mess and excuse after excuse, they took retirement money from a 70 year old Veteran.
In the end our home will be beautiful BECAUSE OF US. I hear by state Clayton does not now or ever have permission to use my name or home in anything related to clayton or any of there businesses.
- If they had ethics and fixed there mess
- I would have been a supporter
- Poor communications with customer
- Work
- Bigger liars
Preferred solution: THEY WILL NEVER CARE OR TRY TO FIX THERE MESS...GOOD JOB SONNY BOMAR OF CLAYTON HOMES OF MABANK TEXAS

Verified ReviewerCan’t get them to finish setting up my home.
I’ve got in contact with Clayton advocacy group. A contractor was supposed to come out 2 weeks ago.
Called said he was on the way then never showed up! Now they haven’t made any attempt to call to set something up .
It’s been 6 months! They got their money and now the...
Both my doors leak water I literally have to put a towel down to catch the water from leaking in my walls. Wont come fix any defects even though they never did a walk through.
Took almost 2 months to get my house keys theres been NO communication or accountability for the treatment of paying customers! Crooked cabinets bowed floors just hands down horrible workmanship.
- Shady business practices
Preferred solution: Accountability! I hope they don’t treat other customers this way.
User's recommendation: Please don’t get caught up with these people!

Verified Reviewer |Lied to! Scammed and taken full advantage of.
We are elderly and disabled. We were not allowed to see the home when delivered to dealer nor afterwards until ready for key transfer.
They scammed us with setting the WRONG house. Our home we were in was vandalized and flooded so we had no choice but to move in anyway. What is worse is this house is actually a lot demo of a new model and was just thrown together for walkthrough purposes only! In less than 10 days it either didn't work to begin or fell apart.
Even the vise present Les Stonom came to meet and not even him has kept his word which he insisted be in writing and signed. This entire company is nothing but a scam operation screeing people over and being proud of it.

Verified ReviewerVery dissatisfied with certain aspects of the home and process of having the home placed on property
The video of one of the kitchen drawers will you the trash they supply customers. My husband and I have lived in the home since ~ 3/6/21.
Had to contact the state for an inspection before correction of issues (uneven ceiling - 2nd half 1-1/2 below 1st half among other issues) was made prior to our being able to move in. During the inspection the inspector checked the roof and found more than 12 raised shingles that had to be replaced. The kitchen drawer has one front corner that is sq cut with flimsy staples the other 3 - 45 degree cut corners has absolutely NOTHING but the flimsy track to hold together.
The vinyl(?) film covering the cabinets (Durocraft-specific to Clayton) is so thin that tears are occurring with normal use. The can lights at the fireplace is off-centered they told me to hire a contractor they can do wonders but Clayton can do nothing about it.
- Layout of floor plans great
- Quality of tile work cabinets in kitchen bathroom poor

Verified ReviewerWorst warranty and cheap materials used
The mobile house is made of the cheapest material it's not energy efficient my electric bill matches my mortgage in the cold months the cabinets are falling apart the trim came off an ya can see the yard from beside the windows the doors don't close right the electric is pure lazy they wired the plug under the home and the outside outlet to the laundry room light so I have to leave the laundry room light on in order to run the outlet and heat tape the supports under the house are shifting causing my entire house to lean to the back my counter top is visibly leaning my siding is buckling and about popped off nails are also pooping thru the laminate flooring everywhere and top it off they put my utility pole on 1 side of the back door and a/c unit on the other side so now I can't even have a back porch put on after I've called repeatedly and they said to find someone that will move it in my area because they are not sending anyone here to move it did I mention my home is only 2 years old
- Everything about the half passed company
Preferred solution: The home fixed or compensated
User's recommendation: Make sure you get everything in black and white when signing because I was supposed to have gutters also and still haven't received them and make sure you have attorney on standby

Verified Reviewer |Shotty work our home is ruined
After we had lost our last home to a house fire we spent a long time building funds to purchase a home and we went with Clayton as it was all we could afford at the time. The process for the move in was relatively painless but we had Clayton service people over to fix sub flooring issues.
Now less then 2 years later their water shut off valve busted and left us with 2 inches of water in our home. Now we have to deal with insurance to get all the floors ripped out and fixed but that's the thing our home is not even 2 yrs old and their water cut off valve fails. I hardly call that worth the $60,000 I will be paying off for this shotty home.
It's a good thing we had our own shut off valve installed at our water pipe outside or we would have had worse damage. A week and half later now our insurance is working on putting our claim on and our floors are warping and walls are warping.
User's recommendation: Do not purchase from clayton!
To hopefully get some issues resolved.
1 when we first bought the house to put on raw land they said we had 2 weeks to get it cleared out so they could bring the house. 2 The contractors that brought the home out left a very big rut in my neighbors yard and we have called both the contractors and Claytons and no one has gotten anywhere.
Most of there contractors have awful customer service. Also Claytons has been scheduled to come out twice to do things and each time they rescheduled at the end of the day. (I work in scheduling so I get that they cant get to somethings) but not giving a time or time frame even when texting or calling multiple times and not getting and answering and then them rescheduling is ridiculous. Most people work full time jobs and do not have time.
I the only contractors that we have not had a problem out of is the plumbers.
Even the people that came to put out our air unit were very rude. Would recommend getting a mobile home but would warn about the costumer service.
User's recommendation: Be very adamant when you have a problem more then once or it won’t get fixed
Complaintsi still didn’t get respond to my complaint
