Clayton Homes - Lied to! Scammed and taken full advantage of.

We are elderly and disabled. We were not allowed to see the home when delivered to dealer nor afterwards until ready for key transfer.

They scammed us with setting the WRONG house. Our home we were in was vandalized and flooded so we had no choice but to move in anyway. What is worse is this house is actually a lot demo of a new model and was just thrown together for walkthrough purposes only! In less than 10 days it either didn't work to begin or fell apart.

Even the vise present Les Stonom came to meet and not even him has kept his word which he insisted be in writing and signed. This entire company is nothing but a scam operation screeing people over and being proud of it.

If you live in Texas call Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs in Austin. If you financed : Texas Department of Insurance Board.

Your paperwork should show the year and model and if like mine it's not on your original receipt. Now it's Insurance fraud!

Keep me updated if you like. Joeplanejoe@***.com

Thanks for the warning. I will chose another route for my new home.

Beware of any affiliate to Clayton Holmes. Also period we have just found out that the mortgage company and the insurance company me are all part of their scam also.

And I'm getting ready.

2. Turn over the insurance to the state.Attorney general for insurance fraud because they are charging us insurance on a different house than this piece of junk we have gotten stuck in.

House needs repairs

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Doors, jams walls are awful. When I say anything I am told its only mobile home .

I cant believe you send out a product like and be satisfied with a home that has curved walls, paint you can see through and jams that have nails sticking out to cut yourself on. Globs of caulking on the holes in the jambs stick out like a sore thumb. Shower drain under the house broken and they said they dont have the part. The three things my husband was excited about was the lentils, which we did not get, black faucets we ordered: told you dont carry them after we received the home and the large shower which doesnt work.

Why cant the part be overnighted. I want a rep from your company to come visit my home and tell me they are satisfied with your work. If he or she takes pride in your product they should fix these issues in the production department. No one should have a new home that looks like this.

Evenall the people who have seen inside the home cant believe it. The seal people are not friends or family but workman who work around here. Believe me they will spread the word around the community not to purchase any of these homes. I have been in real estate for over 30 years and have never seen anything like this before.

I am very sorry I purchased this Pinnacle. Please call me so we can schedule an appointment for your warranty inspector to see this work.

Thanks Faith 706-525-****

Warn other buyers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I thought I was buying a Marlette Rothrock model home. I told the dealer from the beginning that I wanted nothing to do with Clayton due to the quality that I saw in southern built homes.

The dealer never told me that Clayton bought Marlette until I was in deep enough, and late enough in the season to back out. So I took a chance, WHAT A MAJOR MISTAKE. I'm in northern Maine so timing is critical to get a home set in the fall. After countless phone calls voicing my concerns about the timing, and constant assurances from the dealer that the home would be set before frost.

Well it was a month late so it was set on a concrete slab surrounded by frozen ground at lease 2 feet deep. The home delivered was not what I ordered, the floor plan is not the 1 I ordered from, the layout was backwards for the center of the home putting things like drain lines, water spigots, door location, all in the wrong place and wrong side of house. There were no windows (ZERO) in the front wall of the house, this was due to the failure to flip the center of the house. It has a utility room (not on the floor plan I used to order from), this ate up the floor space for the dining area.

This was a custom order mostly due to lot layout requiring a front to back layout flip, did not happen, I very clearly (several times) stated that there would not be a tub in my home, just a 60" walk in shower, I got a tub, I specified 2 comfort height toilets, I got 2 low profiles, I specified 2 36x80 entrance doors with 2 top lites on front and 1 to 4 large lites in back, I got a 36" no lite front and a 32" 9 lite back, I asked that the breaker panel be placed in the kitchen, bedroom or hallway, I got it in the utility room taking up valuable wall space, I asked for 2 cable tv drops 1 in the master and 1 in the living room in the wall separating the LR from the 2nd bedroom, I got 1 on the outside front wall in the LR, I was very specific that I did not want an island or peninsula in the kitchen and the sink on an outside wall, I got a large island/peninsula with a sink in the middle of the room. I gave options to the dealer to forward to Clayton, make this home layout and finishes right, refund 15 to 20 K so I could get it done or build what I ordered and pay a moving company to move me from this to the new one. What I got was 1 window in the front wall, and it is not the size I discussed.

The quality is junk, I will say though that it is very energy efficient (so far). 1 example of Claytons "quality" finish work, every run of crown moulding has at lease 1 joint in the run, these are butt joints, they couldn't even bother to mitre them let alone calk the joint to try and hide them, most of the glued on tile in the kitchen has fallen off, they tried to glue to a vinyl surface, this did not work.

Now this is a very small home, 14x48, except for the long back wall (which is supposed to be the front) the rest of the moulding could (and should) have been put up in 1 single piece.

I guess Clayton uses roofer and framers for finish work. I also specified where I wanted the water and sewer drops to penetrate the bellyboard, they missed on both (another from to back thing)

So if you made it this far, my advise is to avoid the hacks at all cost, shop around and pay attention to detail (or lack of).

Before moving into a home in 2021, I had to call the state department to come and assist in correcting problems with uneven ceilings and also raised shingles that we were unaware of. The drawer corners are not secured, with only one corner stapled.

The film covering the cabinets is thin and tears easily! The can lights at the fireplace are uneven.

Home delivered w/o notice. Dont accept keys till satisfied.

Clayton 1 Waco Most Unprofessional Workplace EVER!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If your home was built at Waco 1 and is a piece of crap it is because there is ZERO professionalism in this place! They blare gangster rap and tejano music through the building all day.

People too busy focusing on dancing rather than building a home. Females twerking with nails guns, doing tik tok dances in your future home! Females allowed to wear spandex and booty shorts to work so of course the men are distracted! Loud obnoxious women are promoted while hard working men are overlooked for the sake of inclusion.

People everywhere but in their own department.

If a hardworker is caught on the phone imediately fired while the slackers walk around taking selfies all day> its insane! The company focuses more on fun than hard work and you cant do that when you are building a home!!eer

These homes are built terribly and their warranty service is horrible. I'm surprised this company doesn't have a class action lawsuit against them.

We moved into the home in February and noticed a mold spot over the sliding glass door in June. They came out in July, then came back a second time.

I started pulling our home apart. They have not yet located the source of moisture in our home.

Moisture is condensation from negative pressure in the home. Check the HVAC duct work from furnace thru entire line for leak. Also check underbelly and make sure the belly barrier is intact and not compromised.

Also make sure to open a window, just a crack, when using the range vent, bathroom vents, or dryer. All of these cause negative pressures in an insulated home, which can pull moist air through cracks into the walls, attic, and through the ceiling. It's better to have any moist air come into the living space to be conditioned with the heater or air conditioning, than to be stuck in the walls, ceiling, or attic.

Home is now 1 year old. The back door is sprung and has been worked on 4 times, but it's still not right.

They should have installed a new door. Three weeks ago, I discovered the heat tape was on (it's 80 degrees out). I called, but received no answer. I texted, and they said they would call.

They also said a service man would call one week ago, but I'm still waiting for the call. Nobody answers my calls or calls back. The house was put in crooked. They placed rock in the front foundation so they could back the home in and they never removed the rock, so I couldn't put a foundation under the front of the home.

The service from Clayton Homes of Troy, Mo., where I bought the home from, is poor. I would never buy from Clayton homes again and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I warn you, do not do business with this company.

They rope you in with their nice looking models and smooth talking salesmen, but as soon as you pay up and sign the paperwork it all goes to *** Communication is non-existent, timelines are not even close to being met, their contractors just show up whenever they feel like it, a few of whom were quite disrespectful not only to us but to our property (ie: leaving garbage and water bottles full of *** just laying around, without even attempting to clean up after themselves). We took delivery 18 days ago and are not even close to being able to move in.

We were told once the home was delivered it would be about a week max to get everything done and ready. We still have no block wall foundation, and no running water; the French drain around the perimeter of the foundation has still not been installed, and no backfill or grading has been done either. When you call to inquire about what's going on, or ask questions about timelines and why they're not being met, they answer with excuses and play the blame game pointing fingers to the other guy with no responsibility being taken by anyone. Then they blow smoke up your *** telling you what you want to hear, and making false promises just to get you off the phone.

Will we ever be able to move in, or are we just going to sit here looking at this house? I guess time will tell... Calls have been made to corporate, and that didn't seem to really do much either... We were also forced to throw away a bunch of food due to being without power for several days.

Their contractor insisted everything would be fine because he "does this all the time", but we're on day 4 of no electricity to our other building which means no running water to the property either as that building houses my well equipment...

This is not only an inconvenience but on the brink of becoming a health and safety issue. With the amount of money we shelled out, up front without financing, I expected to be treated better...

Again, avoid this company at all costs!!!

TERMINAL INJURIES AND YEARS OF HARM, SUFFERING WILL CAYSE DEARH

The parents of my fiance' had their lives turned upside down when my fiance had a horrible and devastating wreck. He was 21 at the time and what better way to start his new life journey than to purchase a handicap compliment brand new mobile home.

Extra charges for wheelchair accessibility and other modifications where never more than a thought. He needed the accessibilty, they paid 15k extra. Because my mother in law is paralyzed too and runs this family from her bed she took them at their word. My fiance' the kind tough minded soul that he is, was great full for this gift.

It wasn't until he explained to me and showed me his plate that the even had any idea they were ripped off! Their 15k extra for their son to have an easier life after his paralysis did nothing but the opposite. Due to only the doors being wider and one kitchen counter top lower there is nothing wheelchair accessible handicap helping in this trailer! He has never been in the shower in his master bedroom.

NEVER!! nor could he even get past the doorway in the guest bathroom. He barely could get himself on the toilet in his master suite. Before he loosened the bolts holding it to the floor and held himself to his wheelchair with one hand and pulled, prodded, cussed cried, moving all it could move he couldn't even get to the toilet.

The wheelchair would jam between the wall and the toilet...

for years their unkind and dishonest practices have not only left his daily duties a tiresome impossibility but created wounds causing 3 bouts of sepsis and the amputation of all toes, removal of a hip, and severe terminal injuries that will eventually take his life... thanks clayton!

Refusal to give restitution

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They hid the home from us until it was installed. It was the wrong house!

Refused to replace it with the correct home. This house continues to literally fall apart every day. They continue to send contractors to "repair" problems but only if they use the same cheap China made junk that the entire house is made of. I've been threatened by the manager of the dealership that if I do anything to the house he will not warranty the house.

What is just as bad their contractor destroyed the property landscape and even after their vice president Less Stone told me to my face he would take care of it all he did was send a check for 10k but there is at least 150k of damage that continues to progress. We are both disabled. I've just had 2 more very serious surgeries and have a year of recovery ahead of me. I cannot even help support my veteran son, grandson, or wife at this point.

Our retirement and dreams of a simple calm life have been destroyed by a scamming company backed by a finance and insurance company who construct the paperwork to weasel them all out of responsibility to be honest, ethical people. They live to prey on elderly, disabled people who use their last amount of money and financial borrowing ability to take them for everything they can.
