In 2007, my husband and I decided we wanted to purchase our first home. We had just had our first child and were tired of renting and the housing was ridiciously priced here so we decided to go with getting some land and a double wide from Clayton Mobile Homes.

Had we known what would've happened later we never would've gone this route. We picked out a house after looking at several and started all the paperwork. Everything seemed to be going fine, the bank had approved us and all was well.

Well we wanted to go with a waterwell company that we told them to call and verify the prices, well they went off my aunt's price that she had gotten a year prior to when we started looking to buy and of course the prices had changed. They decided we should go with someone else that was cheaper due to the fact they had already figured in numbers.

I told them I didn't want to do that but if they thought he was good that was fine with us I guessed. As expected you will have a little dirt at first. It is now April 2010 and we STILL HAVE DIRT coming thru. We called Clayton's last month to tell them of the problems we were still having and they told us "it's not our problem" I was furious.

They said they had documents of when other things were fixed and that they couldn't do anything for us. Well they never came and fixed the other things and now thanks to them we have mold as well. They are a complete rip off and if they EVER CALL FOR THE review I was supposed to give them I won't give one period. I want my house fixed and they still haven't fixed the things we need.

The most important to me at this point is the dirt in my water and the mold in my house. I called to get a quote on how much it would cost to fix the screw up and it's going to cost me $600 to $800 dollars just for them to fix something that I didn't do.

So if you are ever in the market looking for a house don't go with Clayton Mobile Homes. All they will do is *** for your money.

Monetary Loss: $127.

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia

I have a Clayton Mobile home. They are not made correctly.

My electric went out on half of my home. The well went out the first year. I had to get a new roof the first year. And the drain pipe was put in wrong so my tube would always stop up.

The electric is not wired well.

They did not install my air conditioner correctly and the drain pipe went to the ducts under the house and filled them with water and now my ducts are rusting. I would never by Clayton homes again.

I would ask for the well log,and see who drilled it,and who set the pump.I bet you will be in for a suprise when you need the pump serviced, our neighbor had to have thier pipe cut out of the well because they glued the drop pipe together. Pretty shoddy work. If Clayton is still using the same drilling/pump contractor, they surely know the type work thats being done;if not, they need to know.

Sand in the water is common in West Texas. What happens is when the water pump starts it shakes the well a little causing sand to pull toward the pump.

This of course depends on the size of the submersible pump downhole. The more HP a pump has, the worse the problem gets. I would recommend buying a filter to filter the sand at the well. It will need routine maintenance as the filter will need to be cleaned, but it will solve the sand problem.

This problem is actually not anyone's fault.

Some parts of the water formation are sandier than others and thus can not be helped. As far as your other problems with your home it does sound like they don't want to help you out, but it is a mobile home afterall.

dirt in your water is not a retailer problem. You are a home owner you need to take some resposibilty and maintain your home correctly. As far as dirt blowing in you know you live in lubbock right. dirt blows here everyday, gimme a break whiner.

The dirt in your water does not sound like it is your Clayton home. Call the company that drilled your well.

It sounds as simple as the pump has been set too low for the water level in the area that you live. The fix could be as simple as pulling the pump up a few feet or possibly needs to be bailed out to clear out the sand.
